Overview
- Arm publicly unveiled the Mali G2-Ultra NX and the CSS for Mobile 2 platform this week, and Xiaomi’s 18 Fold is the first commercial phone shipping with the new GPU inside a custom Xring O3 chip.
- The G2-Ultra NX embeds neural accelerators directly into shader cores to run neural graphics alongside traditional rendering, using three named techniques: Neural Super Sampling (NSS), Neural Frame Rate Upscaling (NFRU), and Neural Super Sampling and Denoising (NSSD).
- Arm cites measured gains from company demos and benchmarks, including up to 24% higher benchmark scores, about 14% higher non-AI gaming performance over the prior generation, and up to 4x efficiency for neural-graphics workloads in the Neural Dawn demo.
- Arm packaged the GPU with new C2-Ultra and C2-Pro CPU cores that include SME2 for on-device AI, plus engine plugins, SDKs, and confirmed early game support from titles and engines such as Where Winds Meet, Infinity Nikki, Unity, and Unreal Engine.
- Key features such as frame generation and denoising are planned for phased rollouts into 2027, and real-world gains will depend on OEM power budgets, thermal limits, developer integration, and how the wider ecosystem responds to competing AI-graphics approaches.
