Arkansas Guard D.J. Wagner Plans to Enter Transfer Portal

His decision follows a reduced role behind SEC Player of the Year Darius Acuff Jr., leaving Arkansas to restock at point guard.

Overview

  • D.J. Wagner, reported Monday to be entering the NCAA transfer portal, has one year of eligibility and can officially file when the portal opens Tuesday.
  • He averaged 7.4 points, 2.4 assists and 1.6 rebounds this season after shifting from starter to a bench role, starting 19 of 35 games in 23.6 minutes as Arkansas went 29–8 with an SEC Tournament title and a Sweet 16.
  • The junior began his career at Kentucky under John Calipari and followed him to Arkansas, and the On3 report indicates he now plans to finish his college career elsewhere.
  • His exit adds to roster churn as SEC Player of the Year Darius Acuff Jr. heads to the NBA Draft and sophomore Karter Knox is also reported to be transferring.
  • Coming out of high school, Wagner was a Five-Star Plus+ guard and ranked No. 7 overall in the 2023 class by the Rivals Industry Rankings.
