Arkansas Governor Sanders, San Antonio Mayor Host Diwali Celebrations With Indian-American Communities

Indian consular participation with sister-city partners underscored growing people-to-people, trade and investment ties.

On November 4, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders hosted a Diwali reception at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock with India’s Houston Consul General D. C. Manjunath and community members.
Sanders told attendees that festivals like Diwali bring people together across backgrounds and that the spirit of light symbolizes hope and renewal.
On November 1, San Antonio held its annual Diwali festivities featuring the Diwali River Parade, cultural performances and Indian cuisine, drawing thousands along the River Walk.
The San Antonio event was jointly organized by the City of San Antonio and Anuja SA, the San Antonio–Chennai Sister City Alliance, with participation by Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, city council members and community leaders.
Consul General Manjunath thanked Arkansas’s governor and highlighted robust, growing people-to-people, trade and investment links, while Mayor Ortiz Jones said such celebrations foster unity.
