Argentine Banks and Wallets Raise Weekly Rebate Caps and Add Discount Days for Everyday Spending

The moves are meant to steer more household purchases to digital payments and boost short-term consumer relief while limits and budget caps still control actual savings.

Overview

  • Banco Provincia raised Cuenta DNI’s weekly rebate for purchases in neighbourhood shops to $6,000 with a 20% cashback Monday to Friday and requires about $30,000 of accumulated weekly spending to reach the full cap.
  • Banco Nación and MODO reinforced supermarket promos with a 35% rebate at ChangoMás capped at $15,000 per week through June 30 and a wider MODO Wednesday offer of 30% with a $12,000 weekly cap that some outlets extend to August, a package that can total up to $132,000 per person over the promotion window.
  • MODO is offering a 20% rebate on VEA and Disco on Fridays through Sundays with a $25,000 per-bank monthly cap, a minimum ticket threshold and a promo budget that could end the offer early; rebates are usually credited within 30 days.
  • All promotions carry precise conditions that limit value in practice: required payment channels (QR or MODO with specific bank cards), minimum spends to hit caps, exclusions for self-checkout or some card types and weekly/monthly quotas that can exhaust the program early.
  • Banks say households that plan purchases across multiple days and platforms can multiply savings—Banco Provincia estimates over $170,000 a month if users combine discounts—while coverage notes small discrepancies in reporting the exact start date of Cuenta DNI’s cap increase.
