Argentina’s Delivery Apps Grow As Buying Power Drops 12%

Price inflation on popular items is cutting what consumers can order.

Overview

  • The Focus Market report, cited by multiple outlets on Sunday, says users can afford 12% fewer orders than a year ago.
  • On platforms led by PedidosYa and Rappi, April prices for burgers, ice cream, pizza and empanadas rose up to about 41% year over year.
  • With the average February salary of $1,734,357, a worker can buy 116 burgers versus 132 a year earlier, and 69 pizzas versus 79.
  • Couriers averaged $3,033 per order in December 2025 and would need about 454 monthly deliveries to reach the basic basket before fuel and other costs, with many using the apps for only a few hours a day.
  • Platforms charge restaurants 25% to 35% commissions versus about 13% on other marketplaces, and a 1.5% to 2% service fee is under court challenge by Buenos Aires province.
