Overview
- The National Meteorological Service (SMN) keeps yellow alerts in force today for Tucumán, Formosa, eastern Salta and western Jujuy, with storms capable of heavy downpours, frequent lightning, isolated hail and wind gusts that may exceed 80 km/h.
- Yellow alerts for persistent rain cover the southwest of Neuquén, the west of Río Negro and the northwest of Chubut, where 15–30 mm of accumulation is forecast with locally higher totals possible.
- A separate yellow alert remains for strong winds in Tierra del Fuego and the South Atlantic islands, including the Malvinas, with westerlies of 40–65 km/h and gusts that can top 100 km/h.
- For Thursday afternoon and night, a new yellow alert targets Bahía Blanca and nearby districts with forecast storm totals of 30–70 mm, frequent lightning, possible hail and gusts potentially over 80 km/h.
- After Tuesday’s episode that included higher-level alerts in parts of the center-south, Santa Fe city monitoring logged a brief wind-and-dust front followed by intense showers in spots, with peak gusts near 48 km/h and localized rainfall up to 8.75 mm, as SMN reiterates guidance to secure objects, limit travel, clear drains and seek shelter.
