Argentina Raises Airport Security Fee and Navigation Charges Under ANAC Resolution

ANAC says the revenue will finance safety, technology and infrastructure upgrades to close a decade-long tariff shortfall.

Overview

  • ANAC's Resolution 258/2026 took effect Thursday, May 28 and raised the domestic security fee from $20 to $6,500 while lifting regional fees from US$4.42 to US$5 and international fees from US$8 to US$9.
  • The rule also increased overflight and landing charges by 15% and raised national air navigation tariffs by 359%, changes that apply to tickets issued from the effective date.
  • ANAC says proceeds will fund the Service of Rescue and Firefighting (SSEI), new surveillance technology, airport infrastructure and staff training to address a decade-long funding gap.
  • IATA, ALTA and local carriers have formally rejected the hikes and asked for suspension, warning the higher operating costs will likely be passed into ticket prices and damage Argentina's competitiveness.
  • Passengers will feel the change most on short domestic routes where fixed charges matter most and where industry estimates suggest price rises could reach around 10 percent; exemptions include very young children, diplomats, official and sanitary flights, and transit passengers.
