Argentina Offers ARS 10 Million Reward in Search for Missing Chaco Man

The national Ministry of Security formalized the reward to widen confidential tips for a judicial probe that has detained seven people after forensic tests ruled out police transport.

Overview

  • The Ministry of Security published Resolution 508/2026 on June 5 formalizing a ARS 10,000,000 reward administered through the Programa Nacional de Recompensas and Fondo Permanente de Recompensas, with confidential tips taken on the free hotline 134.
  • Axel Alejandro González, 21, was last seen on May 17 around 2:00 a.m. in barrio Anunciación, Fontana, and authorities have led land, air and river searches around the riacho Arazá.
  • Equipo Fiscal N°14 of Resistencia, led by fiscal Julieta Arolfo, is investigating under the hypothesis of a possible crime against physical integrity and is coordinating forensic work and police efforts.
  • Seven people have been detained in the inquiry, including González’s ex-partner Lorena Rosario Gómez and several relatives and associates who face accusations ranging from threats to alleged obstruction.
  • Prosecutors said forensic tests in the case excluded that González was transported in a patrol car or held in a police station, and they are monitoring false versions on social media as the reward seeks to generate reliable, verifiable leads.
