The shift, authorized by Law 26.541, triggers retail closures with holiday pay obligations.

Overview

  • FAECYS and the business chambers CAME, CAC and UDECA agreed to transfer the Día del Empleado de Comercio from Friday 26 to Monday 29 September 2025.
  • Large retailers, supermarkets and shopping centers will not operate on Monday, while Friday’s trade runs normally despite the original date of the observance.
  • Covered workers may take the day off without pay loss, and those who work must be paid at 100% extra under holiday rules; employers cannot compel attendance.
  • The Ministry of Labor will oversee compliance and workers can file complaints for non‑payment or coercion.
  • Separate from the sectoral holiday, several Buenos Aires municipalities set local non‑working days around 26–30 September, and the government moved the 12 October holiday to Friday 10 October by Resolution 139/2025.
