Argentina Issues Yellow Rain Alert for Chubut and Broad Fog Warning for Buenos Aires

Forecasters say thick fog will sharply cut visibility, risking delays for road and public transport.

Overview

  • The national weather service has issued a yellow alert for persistent rain in northeast Chubut with expected accumulations around 10–15 mm and guidance to protect drains and avoid outdoor exposure.
  • A separate SMN warning covers the City of Buenos Aires, much of Buenos Aires Province and ten other provinces where banks of fog could greatly reduce visibility and disrupt morning and overnight circulation.
  • Local forecasts for the Buenos Aires metropolitan area project a mild, mostly cloudy first week of June with no intense cold and a modelled chance of intermittent rain from Saturday into Monday.
  • Regional AEMET-based municipal forecasts for Galicia showed mostly clear conditions on June 1 but were updated to predict light early-morning rain in a few towns on June 2 and afternoon wind gusts up to about 40–44 km/h.
  • Authorities advise residents to expect transport delays, protect homes and drainage from runoff, and follow updates from SMN and AEMET as small-scale timing of rain and fog can change quickly.
