Argentina Confirms No May Raise for Domestic Workers

The freeze reflects stalled talks following a small February adjustment.

Overview

  • Argentina’s domestic work council, CNTCP, confirmed Friday that April’s basic wage scale will remain in force for May with no new increase.
  • For general household tasks, the legal minimum is $3,348.37 per hour with retiro and $3,599.86 without retiro, or $410,773.52 and $455,160.14 per month for a full schedule.
  • Other categories hold steady too: care workers earn $3,599.86/$4,012.14 per hour (monthly $455,160.14/$505,578.34), caseros $3,599.86 per hour ($455,160.14 monthly), and supervisors $4,013.30/$4,382.63 per hour (monthly $500,649.26/$556,024.76).
  • The extraordinary $20,000 bonus paid earlier this year was discontinued in April and will not be added in May, which lowers take‑home pay compared with prior months.
  • Mandatory add‑ons still apply, including a 1% seniority increase per year with the same employer and a 30% regional premium in Patagonia jurisdictions and Patagones, while a new collective bargaining round is pending after February’s 1.5% raises for February and March.
