Overview
- ADEFA’s March data, released Tuesday, showed 41,716 vehicles built, up 40.8% from February and 0.4% from a year earlier.
- Despite the monthly bounce, first‑quarter production fell 19% to 92,346 units, with exports down 9.5% to 52,396 and wholesale deliveries down 12.2% to 112,078.
- Exports recovered in March to 26,646 units, a 66.6% jump from February and 9.7% above last year, while dealer deliveries reached 41,453, up 14.2% month over month but 13.5% lower year over year.
- ADEFA president Rodrigo Pérez Graziano warned of global oversupply and new entrants, including Chinese brands, and urged provinces and municipalities to cut local taxes and fees to restore competitiveness.
- Following Thursday’s INDEC report of an 8.7% year‑on‑year drop in February manufacturing with autos down about 24.6%, the sector’s weak demand and rising import competition raise risks for plant output, jobs, and future investment.
