Argentina Adds Tourist Day on Nov. 21, Pairing With Moved Holiday for Four-Day Weekend

Officials say the measure aims to boost domestic tourism under existing holiday rules.

Overview

  • The Interior Ministry confirmed Friday, Nov. 21 as a non‑laborable tourist day and Monday, Nov. 24 as the transferred Día de la Soberanía Nacional from Nov. 20.
  • Because the tourist day is discretionary for private employers, closures will vary, with public administration, schools and banks more likely to observe it and normal pay rules applying if worked.
  • Working on the Monday holiday triggers double pay under labor law, whereas work on the Friday tourist day is paid at the normal rate unless employers grant the day off.
  • The calendar change draws on Law 27.399 and recent executive measures (DNU 614/2025 and Decree 1027/2024), and reporting notes it is the last tourism‑focused non‑laborable of 2025.
  • Local variability continues: Oct. 31 was a local holiday in Colón and Benito Juárez, Nov. 3 has asuetos in Chubut and Tornquist, and Tapalqué set Nov. 7 as a local non‑working day, while Peru confirmed only Nov. 1 as a national holiday with no added bridge days.
