Arc Raiders Tests PvE‑Lean Rebellion Mode and Dual Boss Fight in China

Embark’s China-specific client is running live beta tests that change lobbies to friendly-by-default play and add simultaneous boss encounters, a move that could shape future mode choices.

Overview

  • Chinese beta testers and screenshots show two new map conditions being trialled: a Rebellion Incident that makes players friendly at drop-in but lets someone opt to betray the group and be marked on the map, and a Dual Boss condition that spawns both the Queen and Matriarch on one map.
  • Reports describe the Rebellion mode as low difficulty with plentiful resources and easier ARC enemies than typical PvP encounters, which encourages cooperative play until a player chooses to ‘rebel’ and becomes a visible target.
  • The changes are limited to a China-only build co-developed with Tencent that required an ISBN licence, so the tested modes are not confirmed for the global Arc Raiders releases and Embark has not announced any rollout plans.
  • Player reaction on social channels mixes praise and impatience, with many non-Chinese players asking Embark to port the mode while testers flag balance questions about ARC threat and resources that would need tuning for wider use.
  • The design reflects China’s common practice of defaulting to consensual PvP or PvE frameworks and uses Arc Raiders’ rotating map-condition system, meaning these tests are experimental game-mode trials rather than permanent global features.
