Overview
- Apple unveiled iOS 27 and a redesigned Siri called Siri AI at WWDC on Monday, June 8, and made developer betas available with a public beta next month and a general release scheduled for this fall.
- Siri AI is a conversational assistant with a dedicated Siri app, synced conversation history through iCloud, on-screen awareness and the ability to search personal messages, photos and apps to take actions across the system.
- Apple described a hybrid architecture that runs smaller models on-device and uses Private Cloud Compute plus third-party cloud and compute partners including Google’s Gemini for heavier inference work.
- The company staggered feature access by hardware and region so that the most advanced Apple Intelligence tools require newer Pro and later iPhone models, Siri AI will launch in English first, and initial iOS/iPadOS support will exclude the EU and China.
- iOS 27 also adds performance and design changes—apps launch faster, photos and AirDrop speed up, and a Liquid Glass opacity slider appears—and Apple set daily limits on some server-based AI features with expanded quotas for iCloud+ subscribers.
