Apple TV+ Sets Sept. 23 Premiere for McConaughey–Harrelson Comedy Brothers

The eight-episode series adapts the actors’ long-running real-life rumor into a scripted comedy that will be a key addition to Apple TV+’s fall lineup.

Overview

  • Apple TV announced Thursday that Brothers will debut on September 23 with the first two episodes and then stream one new episode weekly through a November 4 finale.
  • The show stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves whose lifelong friendship is tested when they uncover a decades-old secret that they may be brothers.
  • Lee Eisenberg is the showrunner and an executive producer after original showrunner David West Read exited over creative differences, and the series was finished by Paramount Television Studios for Apple TV+.
  • Production filmed extensively in Austin in 2025, drawing public attention to on-location shoots and local landmarks during the run of the shoot and temporary pause over reported creative disputes.
  • The ensemble includes Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez and Brittany Ishibashi, Apple released a first-look photo but no trailer yet, and the show builds on public anecdotes about the two actors’ possible family link.
