Overview
- Apple began rolling out iOS 27 on Sept. 14, 2026, and the update installs on iPhone 11 and newer while delivering the biggest change in Siri since its launch.
- Siri is now a standalone conversational app called Siri AI that can use personal context from Mail, Messages, Photos and the screen to hold multi‑turn conversations and take multi‑step actions across apps.
- The full Siri AI and top Apple Intelligence features are hardware‑gated to recent Pro models and newer watch chips, so iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 family owners get the complete experience while older phones receive other iOS 27 improvements.
- Apple activated new Apple Intelligence tools in Photos (Spatial Reframing, Extend, upgraded Clean Up), Shortcuts natural‑language creation, Liquid Glass opacity controls and other UI and safety updates, with some features staged for later iOS 27.x releases.
- The rollout is limited by language and region rules — Siri AI is an English beta now with additional languages coming in October and it is not available in the EU or China at launch — a choice that reduces initial scale but helps Apple manage performance, privacy and regulatory compliance.
