Apple Releases iOS 26.3 With iPhone‑to‑Android Transfer and Major Security Fixes

The update targets interoperability under EU rules, addressing a dyld flaw Apple says was exploited.

Overview

  • Apple rolled out iOS and iPadOS 26.3 alongside updates for macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS and HomePod, with iOS available now via Settings or IPSW for iPhone 11 and later.
  • A built‑in Transfer to Android tool in Settings enables moving photos, messages, notes, apps, passwords and phone numbers to an Android device, excluding health data, protected items and Bluetooth pairings.
  • EU‑focused openness features include notification forwarding to third‑party wearables and AirPods‑style proximity pairing for accessories, with availability limited to the European Union and some elements arriving in stages.
  • A new Limit Precise Location option reduces how accurately cellular networks can locate a device, working only on Apple C1/C1X‑modem hardware and initially on Boost Mobile (US), EE and BT (UK), Telekom (Germany), and AIS and True (Thailand).
  • Apple fixed dozens of security issues, including a dyld vulnerability linked to an extremely sophisticated attack, while some users reported unusually large download sizes for the update.
