Overview
- Apple updated its iCloud support pages on July 17–18 to show higher iCloud+ prices for eight countries and to list Laos, Mauritius, and the Republic of Congo as territories billed in U.S. dollars.
- The affected countries are Nigeria, Türkiye, Vietnam, Japan, Egypt, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
- Price increases vary by plan and market, with reported rises of roughly 11% to 55%; Nigeria and Türkiye saw some of the largest jumps, for example the 50GB plan in Nigeria moved from ₦900 to ₦1,300.
- Apple’s updates leave U.S. iCloud+ pricing unchanged and do not change the service’s features such as Hide My Email or HomeKit Secure Video.
- Reports say Apple adjusted local rates mainly because currency depreciation and local tax or billing practices made existing prices untenable, and the move follows recent Apple price changes for hardware and other subscriptions.
