Apple Pushes iOS 27 Beta 6 as It Backports Nearly 30 Security Fixes to iOS and macOS

The moves prepare Apple for a probable September launch by combining a faster beta cadence and hardware‑gated Siri AI features with urgent fixes drawn from developer betas.

Overview

  • Apple released the sixth developer betas for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate and companion platforms and also published the fourth public betas for broader testing.
  • Developers can download iOS 27 beta 6 via IPSW or as an over‑the‑air update from the Settings app, and Apple’s beta schedule has shifted to weekly releases focused on performance and stability.
  • Apple issued iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 to backport roughly 29–30 security fixes from the 27 betas, most addressing WebKit problems and also patching kernel, image, audio and telephony flaws.
  • Multiple fixes were credited to AI‑assisted research, including nine WebKit CVEs tied to OpenAI Codex Security, and Apple says none of the disclosed vulnerabilities are known to be exploited in the wild but urges prompt updating.
  • The combined push shows Apple is both finalizing iOS 27’s rebuilt, context‑aware Siri and hardening older releases; users are advised to install the 26.x security updates on primary devices and to run developer betas only on secondary hardware.
