Apple Prepares ‘Create a Pass’ for Wallet in iOS 27, Reports Say

The feature would let users turn QR codes into Wallet passes for cards or tickets that lack native support.

Overview

  • Bloomberg reported Monday that iOS 27 will add a Create a Pass option to Apple Wallet, letting iPhone users build digital tickets, memberships, and gift cards.
  • Inside the existing plus-button flow, users could scan a QR code or start from scratch, then adjust images, colors, style, and text on the pass.
  • Apple is testing three templates with default colors: blue for memberships, purple for events, and orange for other pass types.
  • The tool is present in iOS 27 test builds and is expected to be previewed at Apple’s WWDC on June 8 before a wider release later this year.
  • The change targets services that never built Wallet support, which means people could carry fewer plastic cards, while Android’s Google Wallet has long offered a similar create-your-own pass feature.
