Overview
- Apple updated its Developer Design Resources portal this week with Sketch UI kits and updated app icon templates for iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate while Figma versions remain pending.
- The published assets document refined Liquid Glass rules, showing a multi-layer refraction effect, sharper icon outlines, refreshed red notification badges, and settings to reduce translucency for better legibility.
- Apple made SF Symbols 8 and Icon Composer 2 available as betas so designers can build and preview Liquid Glass icons with features such as per-layer refraction, specular highlights, and extended OS previews.
- macOS 27 Golden Gate remains in developer beta and runs only on Apple silicon, and it pairs the visual updates with Apple Intelligence features including Siri in Spotlight and Visual Intelligence for screenshots.
- Apple is staging the rollout: resources for visionOS, watchOS and tvOS are not yet posted and Apple may further tweak the beta designs and tooling before the public releases this fall.
