Apple Issues Third 26.4 Developer Betas Across Platforms as macOS Catches Up

Apple is using this round to polish cross‑platform media, messaging and security additions introduced earlier in the 26.4 cycle.

Overview

  • Developer beta 3 landed March 2 for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS, with macOS Tahoe 26.4 beta 3 following on March 3 after a one‑day delay.
  • iOS/iPadOS 26.4 continues testing Apple Music’s AI‑driven Playlist Playground, native video podcasting via HLS, end‑to‑end encrypted RCS messaging, and Stolen Device Protection enabled by default.
  • visionOS 26.4 adds foveated streaming support to boost perceived quality and reduce latency, while tvOS 26.4 removes the legacy iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps in favor of the Apple TV app.
  • macOS Tahoe 26.4 includes a new Charge Limit setting (80–100%), the return of Safari’s compact tab layout, and warnings that Rosetta support will end in a future release.
  • Apple is preparing minor 26.3.1 updates for iOS, iPadOS and macOS, and broader Siri/AI upgrades long expected for spring remain absent and are reported to be planned for a later release.
