Apple Expands Wallet in iOS 27 With Create a Pass and Receipt Splitter

The update brings tools to turn physical tickets and membership cards into Wallet items and to split receipts with Apple Cash, with the AI auto-scan limited by an Apple Intelligence waitlist.

Overview

  • Apple announced at WWDC on Monday that iOS 27 adds Create a Pass to Wallet, letting users add tickets, membership cards and other passes from inside the app and the developer beta is available now.
  • Create a Pass offers a manual workflow with three templates — Standard, Membership, and Event — and lets users add or remove fields plus import a barcode or QR code from a photo.
  • The promised automatic path uses Visual Intelligence to scan a physical pass but that option is not widely testable yet because it depends on Apple Intelligence and access is controlled by a waitlist.
  • iOS 27 also adds a Split Bill flow tied to the Camera app’s new Siri mode that scans receipts and offers Request or Pay Your Share via Apple Cash, a feature that will roll out first in the U.S. where Apple Cash is available.
  • Beyond these tools, Apple is widening Wallet’s role with enhanced pass designs, new barcode types and Hotel Keys support, a change that will reduce reliance on third‑party pass and bill‑splitting apps and make carrying paper passes less necessary.
