Overview
- Apple announced that new masked email addresses for Sign in with Apple and iCloud+ Hide My Email will be issued on a single private.icloud.com domain.
- Existing addresses on the legacy privaterelay.appleid.com and icloud.com domains will keep forwarding mail to users with no action required.
- Apple gave no exact date, saying the switch will take place “later this summer” and pointing developers to its Developer blog for details.
- Developers must update account systems, email validation logic, and allowlists, and email providers must revise domain-based filtering, suppression lists, and routing rules to accept private.icloud.com.
- Apple says the consolidation should simplify address handling and reduce cross-service inconsistency but could disrupt deliveries if third parties or filters fail to update before the rollout.
