Overview
- Apple began the India rollout on May 21, 2026, making Sleep Apnea Notifications available on supported Apple Watch models and the five-minute Hearing Test available on AirPods Pro 2 and 3.
- Sleep Apnea Notifications use the watch accelerometer to log a new Breathing Disturbances metric and analyse trends over a rolling 30-day window to flag repeated signs of moderate-to-severe sleep apnea.
- The AirPods Hearing Test runs standard pure-tone audiometry across key frequencies, produces an audiogram stored in the Health app, and was validated in a study of about 200 participants with results close to clinical audiometry.
- Apple says both features run primarily on-device, keep Health data encrypted in iCloud with keys Apple cannot access, and let users export PDF reports or audiograms to share with doctors.
- The India launch follows a phased global expansion that began after announcements in 2024 and reflects device, firmware and regulatory limits that mean some related features remain unavailable locally for now.
