Overview
- Apple and Major League Baseball announced Monday that four Friday Night Baseball matchups will be streamed live in Apple Immersive Video on Apple Vision Pro, beginning with Red Sox at Yankees on August 28 and continuing the following Fridays through September 18.
- The immersive feed uses 3D video captured in 8K with a 180° field of view, ambisonic microphones for Spatial Audio, floating in-view graphics, and dedicated replays to recreate an in-stadium perspective for headset users.
- Apple has assigned a bespoke commentary team for the Immersive broadcasts — Paul Severino (play-by-play), Xavier Scruggs (analyst) and Michelle Margaux (sideline) — separate from the standard Apple TV broadcast crews.
- Vision Pro users with an active Apple TV subscription can watch the live immersive games in a limited set of countries, including the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and full-game replays and highlights will be available on demand in the Apple TV app.
- The initiative is part of Apple’s broader push to use live sports as a showcase for Vision Pro after earlier immersive NBA tests and it could help demonstrate the product’s value to potential buyers while adding a premium content layer to Apple TV’s weekly baseball package.
