Overview
- At WWDC on Monday Apple unveiled refinements to its Liquid Glass look and delivered a new Appearance → Liquid Glass slider in the iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 developer betas.
- The slider, found in Settings (System Settings on Mac), lets users adjust a scale from “Ultra Clear” to “Fully Tinted” and must be set separately on each device.
- Apple also revised app icons and macOS interface elements with more uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, coloured sidebar icons, and standardized window corner radii to improve legibility and visual consistency.
- The company said it reworked how Liquid Glass is rendered and optimized memory use, CPU, networking and display rendering so system animations like Home Screen swipes and Mission Control feel smoother.
- Developer betas are available now, public betas arrive next month with final releases later this year, and early hands-on testing finds the slider and tweaks functional but often produce modest visible differences, especially on Mac.
