Overview
- Since February 24, 2026, the App Store blocks downloads of 18+ apps in Australia, Brazil and Singapore unless users verify they are adults.
- Apple released a beta of its Declared Age Range API, which provides apps with a child, teen or adult label rather than a birthdate.
- In the U.S., age-category data will be available to apps for new Apple accounts in Utah in early May 2026 and in Louisiana on July 1, 2026.
- Apple says the App Store performs the verification automatically, but developers may still need independent checks to meet local obligations.
- Apple has not announced a wider rollout, and in Brazil even games with gambling-like mechanics can fall into the 18+ category requiring verification.
