Overview
- Burrell was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma in June 2022 and was initially told she had about 12–18 months to live, a prognosis she has since exceeded.
- She underwent early surgery using 5‑ALA to remove more than 90% of the tumour in 2022, followed by six weeks of radiotherapy with temozolomide and adjuvant chemotherapy that finished in March 2023.
- Scans showed regrowth over time, with a routine December 2025 scan finding a 3cm recurrence that led to a partial resection in January 2026 and two weeks of re‑radiation in February 2026.
- Burrell says she now lives with lasting effects including loss of left peripheral vision, headaches, fatigue and reduced coordination, and she is awaiting a scan to see if the January surgery and February re‑radiation have stabilised the tumour.
- As a visible Antiques Roadshow expert and a 2023 patron of Brain Tumour Research, Burrell uses social media to share her experience, draw public support and highlight that glioblastoma commonly recurs despite standard treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and temozolomide.
