Anthropic Integrates iOS Simulator Into Claude Code Desktop

Direct simulator control on local Macs reduces the need for broad system permissions.

Overview

  • Anthropic announced July 21–22 that the iOS Simulator integration is live in public beta and available to Pro, Max, and Team plan users.
  • Claude Code can build, install, run, watch, interact with, and iterate on iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, and watchOS apps inside an embedded simulator pane while developers continue to use the simulator themselves.
  • The simulator pane talks to Apple's iOS Simulator directly so Claude does not require macOS Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions that its prior computer‑use method depended on.
  • The feature works only on local Macs with Xcode and the iOS platform installed, gives each session its own simulator with up to four panes, and requests a one‑time permission to control and capture a simulated device.
  • Claude captures screenshots of simulated devices that are sent to Anthropic and retained under standard conversation rules so developers are advised not to sign into real accounts and to treat simulator sessions as retained telemetry
