Overview
- Anthropic began a staged rollout in mid-June 2026 that upgrades the Claude iOS and Android apps from English-only voice to support 18 additional languages, giving the product 19 languages in total.
- The mobile update introduces push-to-talk input, a redesigned phone-call style icon to launch voice, and the ability to switch languages on the fly during a conversation.
- Claude's voice mode first shipped in April–May 2025 with three English voices named Airy, Mellow and Buttery and was tested inside Claude Code for a subset of Pro/Max/Team/Enterprise users in March 2026.
- Availability is staggered by region and account, so users should check the Voice settings in the Claude app to see if the new toggles and languages are active on their device.
- The change narrows a gap with rival products that already offered multilingual voice, improves accessibility for non-English speakers, and could extend these voice features into developer and coding workflows over time.
