ANSV Finds More Than 150 Unauthorized Speed Radars on National Routes

The audit threatens the legal standing of thousands of photo fines by exposing unauthorised or non‑calibrated devices.

Overview

  • An ANSV audit covering over 40,000 km of national routes in early 2026 reviewed 526 registered speed devices and found widespread problems in location and authorization.
  • Inspectors reported that of 363 fixed radars on record, 239 were at their authorised sites, 124 were not found where declared, and 152 fixed units operated without national approval.
  • The agency has issued intimations to jurisdictions, demanded removal of unauthorised units and revoked specific permits for six fixed radars in Azul, one mobile in Exaltación de la Cruz, and four mobiles in Dina Huapi.
  • Legal experts say fotomultas from devices lacking ANSV authorization or valid INTI homologation and calibration can be voided because valid fines require device ID, current calibration, clear photos and proper notification.
  • ANSV plans further administrative actions and will press jurisdictions with expired technical verifications to regularise equipment, a move that could lead to mass annulments of fines and affect municipal revenue and local enforcement practices.
