ANSES Recognizes Childcare Time as Pension Credits for Mothers

The program lets eligible women convert periods spent raising children into years of social security contributions to help meet pension rules.

Overview

  • ANSES’ Program of Recognition of Contributions for Care Work grants one credited year per child born alive, two years for adopted children underage, an extra year for a child with disability, and two additional years per child when the mother received the AUH for at least 12 months.
  • The benefit is aimed at women who are 60 or older, have no pension granted and have not opened a pension claim, and it only adds years to a contribution history rather than paying a new benefit.
  • Receiving the credited years does not automatically produce a pension because applicants still must meet the ordinary retirement thresholds of age 60 and 30 years of contributions under the general regime.
  • To apply applicants must check that their children are registered in Mi ANSES, request a turn and present identity documents, birth certificates, a CUD for disabilities, adoption judgments when relevant, and any records proving maternity leave or job absences.
  • The measure gained renewed attention after the moratorium under Law 27.705 ended because it offers a practical route for mothers with interrupted work histories to close gaps in their records and potentially reach the contribution total needed to retire.
