- The board voted at a special July 13 meeting to use about half of AVRL’s roughly $160,830 in unallocated reserves to keep Kentville, Hantsport, Lawrencetown, Middleton and Port Williams open until Sept. 30.
- If the reprieve is used as planned reserves will fall to about $88,800 by the end of September, leaving little buffer for further service beyond that date.
- The temporary plan reassigns staff under a mixed 2025-26 and 2026-27 model that equals about 8.8 full-time equivalent positions plus casual workers to maintain service with reduced hours.
- AVRL has asked eight municipal funding partners to deliver a previously requested 50% increase in operating contributions and says only three have paid so far; the province says it cannot add funds beyond its $16.4 million budget allocation.
