Andhra Pradesh Orders December Rush to Complete 1,162.8 MW Feeder Solarisation

The deadline is meant to protect central PM-KUSUM funding to ease DISCOM costs from daytime power demand.

Overview

  • State energy chief K Vijayanand has directed officials to fast-track all 228 feeder-level solar projects under PM-KUSUM Component-C and finish them by December to keep central financial aid.
  • Projects total about 1,162.8 MW and are split across APCPDCL, APEPDCL, APSPDCL and Kuppam RESCO jurisdictions with land acquisition largely done but construction and procurement at mixed stages.
  • Regional progress includes 55 plants (191.5 MW) in APCPDCL with roughly 91% land acquired, 32 plants (220.3 MW) in APEPDCL with about 93% land acquired, and 141 plants (751 MW) in APSPDCL/Kuppam with grading, piling and foundation works underway.
  • Officials were ordered to clear pending approvals, meet weekly targets and speed material mobilisation because missing the timetable could forfeit central funds and raise short-term costs for distribution companies.
  • Feeder-level solarisation supplies daytime power directly to agricultural feeders to reduce conventional power purchases, improve grid reliability and lower costs for farmers and DISCOMs under the federal PM-KUSUM programme.
