Overview
- The state energy chief K Vijayanand on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 directed officials to complete and commission 24 transmission projects between June and December 2026 with phased inaugurations over the following six months.
- The 24 projects total Rs 3,507 crore and include major high‑voltage substations such as the Rs 875‑crore Atchutapuram 400/220 kV GIS, the Rs 560‑crore Gudivada 400/220 kV and the Rs 380‑crore Ainavilli 400/132 kV schemes.
- APTRANSCO has already added 1,465 MVA of transformation capacity and 571 circuit kilometres (CKM) of lines by commissioning three 400 kV, eight 220 kV and 21 132 kV substations earlier this year.
- A wider pipeline remains active: 68 projects worth about Rs 5,279 crore are under execution that will add roughly 15,224.5 MVA and 1,828 CKM when finished, while tenders are out for 29 projects (about 4,520 MVA and 700 CKM) and 72 more are in planning.
- State officials say the upgrades are meant to strengthen grid stability and enable faster evacuation of power to load centres, which should reduce outages and support industrial and agricultural growth across Andhra Pradesh.
