American Airlines to Build New 12,000-Square-Foot Admirals Club in Austin With First Outdoor Terrace

Construction is set to start later this year with no opening date provided.

Overview

  • The lounge will sit on the west side of AUS’s Barbara Jordan Terminal and roughly double the footprint of American’s current club.
  • It will be the first Admirals Club to feature an open-air terrace with views of downtown Austin and the airfield.
  • Work is expected to begin later in 2026 while the existing lounge stays open, and no opening date was announced as some outlets estimate 2027–2028 based on similar projects.
  • The plan replaces an earlier, unbuilt proposal near Gate 14 that envisioned a larger space of about 15,000 square feet.
  • American frames the project as part of a broader lounge modernization that includes work at DCA Concourse D, ORD Concourse L, Charlotte, Miami and San Antonio, aligning with AUS’s expansion and the carrier’s roughly 50 daily flights to 11 destinations.
