Amazon to Build AU$750 Million Robotics Fulfillment Center in Brisbane by 2028

The four-level, 150,000 square meter site is slated to process more than 125 million packages a year.

Overview

  • Construction has begun at a Charter Hall logistics estate in Logan’s North Maclean, with completion targeted for 2028.
  • Amazon projects more than 1,000 permanent roles once operational, with about 2,000 construction and fit-out jobs during the build.
  • The facility will store up to 15 million smaller items and is intended to speed delivery across Queensland while adding network redundancy.
  • Robots such as Hercules, Sparrow and Vulcan will assist employees with heavy lifting and repetitive tasks, with Wi‑Fi “Tech Vests” helping machines detect workers.
  • Items over 16 kilograms will continue to be handled from Amazon’s Lytton site, and this will be the company’s second robotics warehouse in Australia after Kemps Creek in Sydney.
