Amazon Said to Near Globalstar Deal to Speed Project Kuiper

Bloomberg, cited by multiple outlets Tuesday, reported Amazon is in advanced talks to buy Globalstar with an announcement possible as soon as today.
The move targets a faster build for Project Kuiper, with Amazon operating about 180 satellites versus more than 10,000 for SpaceX’s Starlink.
Globalstar would bring an operating low‑Earth‑orbit network and licensed radio spectrum, a limited resource that lets satellites send data without interference.
Talks involve Apple, which owns roughly 20% of Globalstar after a 2024 investment and uses its network for the iPhone Emergency SOS feature.
Reuters said it could not confirm the report, the companies have not commented, and Globalstar shares are up about 273% over the past year on takeover speculation.
