Amazon Refreshes Fire TV With Faster 4K Stick and Redesigned Remote

Shipping now at $59.99 with Vega OS, the new stick signals Amazon’s push to speedier streaming through staged Alexa+ rollouts.

Overview

  • Amazon announced the Fire TV Stick 4K and a new Fire TV Remote on Sept. 30, 2026, and the 4K stick is shipping now to multiple countries.
  • The new stick uses Amazon’s Vega operating system, has a quad-core 1.7 GHz chip, 8 GB storage, Wi‑Fi 6 and AV1 support, and a slimmer build with Direct Power to run from a TV’s USB port.
  • Amazon says the device gets viewers to content about 20–40% faster, with apps launching over 35% faster and playback starting nearly 20% sooner, but those numbers come from the company’s own tests against unnamed rivals and smart TVs and have not been independently verified.
  • The redesigned tactile remote ships with the stick and is available to preorder separately for $14.99 in the U.S., and Amazon plans a premium Fire TV Remote Plus with Find My Remote and an aluminum body in early 2027.
  • Pricing and rollout are staged: the stick’s regular price is $59.99, a limited U.S. Prime Big Deal Days discount drops it to $29.99, Alexa+ features will begin rolling out to select Fire TV devices in November and expand to the new 4K stick and more countries in early 2027, and reporters flagged concerns about more prominent home-screen ads in the refreshed interface.
