Overview
- Amazon announced Tuesday that it will add a third campus at Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport and raise its northwest Louisiana commitment from $12 billion to $18 billion.
- The company said the three campuses are expected to provide up to 750 direct jobs and that STACK Infrastructure anticipates as many as 2,250 construction jobs for local contractors and trades.
- Amazon pledged to fully fund required water and wastewater work and to invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure while partnering with SWEPCO to pay for new energy and grid upgrades without charging existing ratepayers.
- Amazon plans to rely mainly on air cooling and use water-based cooling only when temperatures exceed about 85°F, which the company estimates will occur less than 13% of the year.
- The expanded plan follows earlier legal challenges to the Shreveport site that were cleared this spring and is being paired with local workforce programs and nearly $500,000 in community grants announced since February.
