Amazon Launches GenAI Creators’ Fund and Orders Three Animated Series

Project Nara is an AWS-built AI production platform that speeds production to channel select pilots to Prime Video.

Overview

  • Amazon MGM Studios and Amazon Web Services have launched the GenAI Creators’ Fund to provide grants and production support to selected filmmakers, digital creators, and startups.
  • Prime Video has greenlit three animated projects through the fund — Punky Duck, Love, Diana Music Hunters, and Cupcake & Friends — with plans to stream them on the service but no premiere dates announced.
  • Project Nara is the program’s exclusive, model-agnostic production workspace that links third-party and proprietary AI models, offers provenance tracking to protect IP, and integrates with tools such as Maya, Blender, Nuke, Unreal Engine, and Adobe.
  • Amazon set a five-week deadline for initial partners to deliver pilots to demonstrate speed, and company leaders say human actors and voice talent remain involved though grant amounts and release schedules were not disclosed.
  • The initiative signals growing industry use of generative AI in animation and VFX and could lower costs and speed workflows for creators who previously lacked access to studio‑grade production tools.
