Amazon Launches Alexa Podcasts for Alexa+ to Generate On-Demand AI Episodes

The U.S.-only rollout signals Amazon’s push to turn Alexa+ into a personalized content creator grounded in publisher deals.

Overview

  • Alexa Podcasts, which began rolling out Monday, lets users name a topic, review a quick outline, adjust length or tone, and then hear an AI-hosted episode in minutes.
  • Amazon says the system pulls facts from partners such as AP, Reuters, The Washington Post, TIME, Forbes, Vox, USA Today, and more than 200 local papers to cut down on errors.
  • The feature is available to U.S. Alexa+ subscribers now, included with Prime, with non-Prime access priced at $19.99 per month.
  • Finished episodes trigger a notification on Echo Show devices and in the Alexa app, and are saved in the app’s Music and More section for replay on the go.
  • Reporters compare the tool with Google’s NotebookLM and Gemini audio features and note ongoing worries over accuracy, synthetic voices, and creator impact, as Amazon explores personalized briefings and document-based audio next.
