Amazon Employee Charged With Murder in Melrose Park Parking Garage Shooting

Prosecutors say evidence from license-plate photos, video and a recovered phone led to the charge and they are seeking detention pending trial.

Overview

  • Police found 27-year-old Travion R. Taylor shot in the employee parking garage of the Melrose Park Amazon delivery station on June 4 and he later died at Loyola University Medical Center.
  • Investigators identified 20-year-old Quentin S. Williams Jr. of Maywood as a suspect after reviewing surveillance, timecards, eyewitness accounts and license-plate reader images.
  • Authorities say the shooting followed a domestic-related dispute between employees and that Williams fired a semiautomatic rifle, striking Taylor in the back during a fight.
  • Williams turned himself in with an attorney and has been charged with first-degree murder; a judge ordered him held pending trial and his next court date is set.
  • Amazon called the incident a senseless tragedy, said the site was safe, added security at the delivery station and said it is supporting employees as the multi-agency investigation continues.
