Overview
- An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 freighter operated by 21 Air overran Runway 30 at Miami International and crossed a perimeter road on Sunday, striking multiple vehicles and catching fire.
- Miami-Dade officials confirmed five people died and five were injured; some injured are in critical condition and officials have not yet said whether the fatalities were inside vehicles or on board.
- More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units and roughly 200 personnel used foam and technical rescue teams to fight fires, contain a fuel leak and extricate victims including the trapped pilot and co-pilot.
- The NTSB has launched a go team and the FAA opened an investigation that will examine crew actions, aircraft systems such as brakes and reverse thrust, runway surface and weather at the time of landing.
