Amaravati Quantum Refrigerator Reaches 4 Kelvin Using Mostly Indian Parts

Validation of locally made components opens a national testbed for testing quantum hardware as teams press onward toward millikelvin cooling.

  • Operating at 4 K allows testing and characterization of superconducting devices, quantum sensors, cryogenic electronics and single-photon detectors without yet reaching the millikelvin regime needed for full superconducting qubits.
  • The Medha Towers Quantum Reference Facility is open to startups, universities and labs for testing and validation, and AQV says the installation will continue cooling toward the ultra-low millikelvin temperatures required for processor operation.
