- Former deputy Amarachukwu W. Igwe was taken into custody at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center on Saturday after staff intercepted narcotics she allegedly brought for a detainee.
- She was transported to the Arlington County Detention Facility and booked on possession, delivery of drugs to prisoners, and conspiracy.
- The sheriff’s office said it terminated her employment immediately, and its Investigations, Professionalism & Oversight Section led the interdiction.
