Aldi to Fit Solar Panels at 62 More UK Stores in 2026

The push aims to cut grid reliance by generating more power on site.

Overview

  • Aldi, which announced the expansion Friday, will add rooftop solar to 62 UK stores during 2026.
  • The move builds on panels already installed at more than 470 locations, taking the total to over 500 stores.
  • The retailer has earmarked £8.4 million to equip 100 stores in 2025–26 within a wider 2026 store investment topping £300 million.
  • Each installation can provide up to about 30% of a store’s annual electricity, which the company says strengthens energy resilience.
  • Near-term work is set for stores in Stratford-upon-Avon, Maghull, Northampton and Wrexham.
