Aldi Süd Opens Augsburg Store Lots to Nighttime Renters in New Pilot

Residents book spaces digitally for €3 per night during off-hours under a city-backed trial.

Overview

  • Aldi Süd and the City of Augsburg launched the Feierabendparken program across four sites, adding about 110 rental spaces for nearby residents.
  • Parking is permitted Monday to Saturday from 18:30 to 08:30, with all-day access on Sundays.
  • The first location at Lechhauser Straße 15a is live, with sites in Oberhausen, Lechhausen and Göggingen to follow during February.
  • Access and enforcement run on Wemolo’s AI license-plate recognition with bookings via web app or on-site QR codes, priced at €3 per night, €12 per week or €30 per month.
  • The rollout builds on earlier trials in Düsseldorf and other cities, with Lidl and some Rewe markets testing similar after-hours parking models.
